The Story Behind My Career Choice
When I first found out about psychology, I was watching a t.v. show called "Hoarders". Hoarders are people with a disorder that gives them a feeling of discomfort when they have to get rid of things. Sometimes these things are considered useless in our eyes or maybe even trash, but to them these things can be considered treasures or valuables. They tend to collect more and more stuff, until it becomes an overwhelming obsession. These people get help from licensed psychologists and a cleaning crew to help haul off the trash in their homes. The psychologists work with these people to help them detach from all the stuff and to keep a healthy home and lifestyle. These psychologist do not always work with hoarders. There are many other people and psychological disorders that they work with and specialize in such as, drug addiction, O.C.D., trauma, and so on. The thing I love about psychology is that i will able to help these people get better and live a better life. Whether it be hoarders, drug addicts, or even children, I want to help them all.
